The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole says a timely integration of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the nation’s security network is key to curbing the current general insecurity.
He said it was against this background that his administration had embarked on the deployment of ICT in every part of the state towards improving the security of  lives and property.
Nigeria,  he said, is currently faced with the security challenge  with the  re-occurrence  of   bomb blasts in a section of the country.
According to him, the   effect of such integration will also be a boost in the revenue base after the challenge usually associated with every new system.
“Across all spheres of governance, from security, revenue generation and fiscal governance to education and general administration, ICT accelerates the pace and enhances the quality of service delivery,” Oshiomhole stated.
Mr. John Mayaki, Senior Special Assistant to the governor  on Media Matters,  quoted the governor in an email as saying at the opening of the National Information TechnologyPublic-Private Forum held in Benin City that the role of ICT in guaranteeing security could not be   ignored.
Oshiomhole, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Simon Imuekheme, noted that though the state’s geographic information system was in its early stages of implementation, the inherent gains of the current investment in the system would surpass any immediate challenge.
“The early benefits in streamlining our land information system eases the validation of our citizens, properties and boost our land use revenues. We have computerised our major MDAs, where antiquated typewriters were previously the major equipment in use. The 18 local government areas have been integrated into our ICT infrastructure hub. The benefits have justified our investments in ICT infrastructure, he said
