FEMALE PUPILS ARE MOLESTED BY MALE TEACHERS IN ADAMAWA STATE

Lead ImageThe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Adamawa State has dismissed two teachers following investigations into alleged sexual molestation of female pupils under their care.

The State Universal Basic Education Board chairperson, Salihu Bakari Girei, said the action followed confirmation of the allegations of sexual molestation made against the two teachers early in the year in their various schools.
One of the cases, which was reported, involved a school head who impregnated a teenage female pupil in one of the sub-urban primary schools located within Jimeta metropolis. The other was of a teacher in one of the special schools in Jada who reportedly sexually abused a female pupil.
Announcing their dismissal today, Mr Girei said he was acting on the advice of the education board which recommended the dismissal of the tutors after its investigations confirmed the involvement of both men in the crime “beyond any doubt.”
The education officer also said that the two men, whose names were not disclosed, will be handed over to the police for prosecution.
According to him, “All education secretaries in the state have been informed to communicate to all heads of schools within their domain to live up to their duties and at the same time remain vigilant.”
